CAPE LIGHT COMPACT AND CON EDISON SOLUTIONS ANNOUNCE ELECTRICITY PRICES
Cape COD, MASS - December 7, 2006 - Underscoring their continuing commitment to affordable energy and customer service, the Cape Light Compact and ConEdison Solutions are pleased to announce that electricity prices for Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard residential and commercial consumers are going down 10% to 13% from the rates in effect in January 2006.
“The lower electric prices for the Cape and Vineyard will bring welcome savings to all consumers. These prices are very competitive and offer customers savings and price stability,” said Bob Mahoney, Chairman of the Cape Light Compact.
Specifically, the rate for residential customers will be 11.652 cents per kWh and the rate for commercial customers will be 11.671 cents per kWh. The price is guaranteed to remain in effect for the six month period from customers’ January meter read dates to their July meter read dates. The rate for industrial customers will be 12.871 cents per kWh, and that rate will be in effect for the period from January through March 2007.
ConEdison Solutions also announced that it has extended its one-cent price break, which was scheduled to end during the October bill-paying period, through the end of this year.
"We always put the customer’s interests first when looking for opportunities to create savings and supporting the Cape Light Compacts education and energy conservation initiatives," said Jorge Lopez, President and CEO of ConEdison Solutions. "We encourage consumers to take advantage of this guarantee of energy cost savings. Providing lower bills for Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard fits in with Cape Light Compact's deep commitment to community education and community empowerment."
Mr. Lopez also advised consumers to carefully evaluate offers from energy services companies.
"Consumers need to be certain of the length of time that a new price will remain in effect, the details of any contract including termination and penalty clauses, as well as the ability of the supplier to pass through additional costs" said Mr. Lopez. "You cannot simply look at prices. It is important that customers be sure they are 'comparing apples to apples' when making cost comparisons among energy providers. Consumers must be sure they understand the commitment they are making."
In addition to providing competitively-priced electricity, Cape Light Compact also delivers a range of services to the Cape Cod community, including energy efficiency programs, energy education in local classrooms, programs that encourage energy conservation and consumer education initiatives. The Cape Light Compact enables all Cape and Vineyard energy consumers to take advantage of other benefits like Cape Light Compact GreenSM and energy audits to control energy consumption.
